Saturday, March 12, 2011

Lacrosse season starts today, so I am off to Springfield College for a tournament with my 14 yo son. I have all my supplies- beef sticks, cheese sticks and almonds (I know nuts aren't allowed on induction, but I eat few and seem to tolerate them). Oh, and water of course! Although the Dunkin Donuts coffee is my first beverage of choice!
Assisted with cooking breakfast for staff yesterday, and did well. Had two eggs over easy (thanks to the chef doing eggs to order!) lots of bacon and two sausages. When all the desserts came out- apple turnovers, cherry turnovers, oatmeal raisin cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and a fruit platter with dipping chocolate, I smelled the wonderful aroma, and chose three strawberries instead.
So today will be a long day- it is an hour and half drive to Springfield, three Lax games, the drive home and then I need to cover a three hour shift at the group home, until 10 tonight. the only exercise I will get is the walking from field to field.
More in the morning. I have committed to writing something each morning as a way to keep on track.

Yesterday was a rough day. I really wanted to but some chocolate, and even went so far as to buy a chocolate peanut butter Adkins bar. It seemed there was no time to eat a real meal. If it weren't for my staff cooking eggs and sausage for breakfast at the group home, and fixing me a plate, I probably wouldn't have eaten at all. High stress day, coupled with back to back mini crisises and I was set up for disaster. I did keep it together for the most part- just didn't get my water consumption in for the day.
Today is another day full of meetings, but I will get through it, as I will be a little more prepared (I hope!). Starting off cooking breakfast for staff- employee appreciation month, and our management team prepares breakfast for all of our staff this morning! Eggs, bacon, sausage- just perfect for me. We won't mention the apple turnovers, cookies, muffins, and bagels, though...lol.
Did manage to get on the scale at work and weighed in, once again, at 300. Yuck! But I will get it below 200, I need to, for me.
So, menu for yesterday..... coffee (LOTS!), 2 eggs, 2 sausage links, about 10 pepperoni slices on the go from appt to appt, and three baked pork chops for dinner. Oh, and the diet and rum I had after work. Not the best menu, but it worked.
More later......

the story of my life....

Back on the low carb train again! Forget the wagon, it is moving too slow for me, lol. Did one complete day yesterday, so I am back. Still need to weigh in and plan on doing that today at work, to get a starting weight, again. Hopefully, I will have time tonight to do my measurements and take a start pic.
I tried weight watchers this past year, lost a couple of pounds, but I couldn't get my mind to agree with everything on the program. I went for support for one of my co-workers, who also needs to lose weight, and because I needed the support, so I thought. Then the holidays came, and weight watchers flew out the window. Between the stress of the holidays, and the corporate restructuring of the company I work for, and the lumbar fracture I had, my diet consisted of holiday treats, chocolate, and high carb comfort foods!!!! No time to count points, carbs or pounds gained!
I need to do this my way, and my way is the low carb way. It has worked in the past for me, and I totally feel better when I am lowcarbing. 4:50am...yikes, got to leave for work....more later!

Another snowy, icy day...

I remember back when I liked snowstorms...days off school with my children- sliding, skating and enjoying. Now, I look at snow through my jaded eyes, and I think shovelling, slippery, icky mess! I long for spring time... the blossoms on the trees, the daffodils blooming, the birds chirping in the morning. It always seems to get longer and longer- the wait for spring.
I weighed in today at 290.6 so I really in a good mood, despite the snow and ice falling outside. A weight loss of 17 pounds is good.
I resolved last night that I will start back at the gym tomorrow- I am working a 12 hour shift today, due to the snow, so I can't start today- no excuses. I was watching the Biggest Loser last night, and noted how much the trainers pushed the participants, and the weight loss they achieved because they were pushed. So I resolved then that it was also time for me to stop making excuses and get out of my comfort zone and into the gym. I knew that I hadn't cancelled my Planet Fitness membership for a reason. So tomorrow it will start and I will make an appointment to meet with the trainer and review the equipment.

Weigh in

I am not very good at posting daily. I knew that, hence the blog versus a forum. There is always too much going on in my life to warrant blogging. But I am still lowcarbing and sticking to the plan.
Weigh-in was done yesterday morning.....new weight 296.2, so I am right on track. No time to write this morning, I have a report to finish that is due at 1 today so I need to get moving on that one. I am working third tonight so I will probably be able to write more then.

So I finished the cake at 4am, and, I am proud to say, I did not sample the rice krispie treats, the batter, the fondant, the cake, or the icing! I went to bed right afterwards, and back up at 6am to take my son and his friend to meet the wrestling coach so they could get to the competition in time for check-in. Came home, and got ready for the day. Had an applicant interview at 8am and met my co-worker at 8:30 to transfer beeper responsibilities.
I then went to deliver the cake and the child was very excited to see her favorite characters on the cake. The parents were pleased with the way the cake came out also.
Off to the market to buy snacks for the wrestling competition before hitting the highway. Half pound of the store made chicken salad, some provolone and sliced pepperoni. Two apples and G2 for my son, and I was ready to hit the road.
Drove the hour and a half to the wrestling competition and arrived in time to see Kevin compete in the second match- which he lost. He won the next one pinning his competitor in a cradle hold. Overall the team did okay...they came in 7 out of nine teams.

So I am still hanging in there and keeping it together- planning my meals on the cuff, of course...but that goes with my life style. Being on the go with the kids, the cakes and the job, doesn't leave much time for meal planning or scheduled exercise. I long for the days of leisure, in which I can try out new recipes, and go to the gym on a regular basis. Someday...
